What is nail fungus and what are the symptoms?

canwhatis

Fungal nail infections are most common on the toenails. However the fingernails can also become infected. In most cases the nail infection can appear as a white or yellow spot underneath the nail and can eventually spread to the whole area if left untreated. Also during the infection, the nail can become discoloured, thicken and even develop crumbling edges. These fungal nail infections can be very contagious and if left untreated, they can spread easily from person to person. Usually if the infection is left untreated the nails don’t generally repair themselves.
