Derbac M Malathion Liquid 200ml

Derbac-M contains the active ingredient Malathion 0.5% which is highly effective in eradicating head lice, pubic lice and their eggs and also for the treatment of scabies. If a member of your family requires treatment with Derbac-M, any other family members should also be checked for live lice, with a detector comb if required.

Before using Derbac-M please read the following information:

• Do not use if you are sensitive to any listed ingredients.
• Do not use on children 6 months of age or youger - without medical supervision.
• Avoid contact with the eyes by covering with a towel - rinse thoroughly with water if eyes are affected, seek medical advice if irritation continues.
• It should not be used more than once a week, and not for more than 3 consecutive weeks.
• For external use only.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor/pharmacist before use.
• Dermac-M may cause skin irritation - if this occurs you should stop using the product and see your doctor or pharmacist.
• In case of ingestion, seek medical advice immediately.

Directions for use (adults, elderly and children over 6 months old):

Headlice treatment:

• Ensure hair is dry before use - apply enough liquid to cover the whole scalp leaving no area untouched.
• Work into the hair and scalp, spreading the liquid evenly from the hair roots to the tips.
• Leave the hair to dry naturally in a well ventilated room.
• After 12 hours, or the following day (left on overnight), shampoo the hair in the normal way, rinsing and using a comb to remove any dead lice and eggs.
• Treatment may need to be repeated 7 days after the initial application to kill any lice which may have survived the initial treatment.
• 50ml is usually enough to treat one person (unless the hair is long and thick) therefore 200ml should be enough to treat 4 people, or 2 people twice (7 days apart).

Treatment of Crab (pubic) lice:

• Apply to the entire skin are, paying particular attention to hairy areas including beards and moustaches but avoiding any other areas above the neck.
• Leave on for at least one hour (preferably overnight) then wash off in your usual manner.

Treatment of Scabies:

• Apply to the entire skin area - adults may not require any to be applied above the neck, but children under 2 years of age shoudl have a very thin film of the liquid applied to the scalp, face and ears (avoiding the eyes and mouth).
• Do not wash off for 24 hours - if you wash your hands or any other part of your body during this period (e.g. washing your hands after going to the toilet), the treatment must be reapplied to those areas.
• There are no special requirements for washing/ironing your clothes except to keep them seperate from other family members.
• The infestation is treated with the liquid, however the itch and irritation may last for up to 7 days (sometimes more).
• Family members and any other close contacts should also be treated.
