What is Nuromol?

Nuromol is a painkiller which combines paracetamol (500mg) and Ibuprofen (200mg) to provide an effective relief from pain when one type of painkiller isn't quite enough. Paracetamol is an everyday painkiller which can also relieve fevers. Ibuprofen is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) which works by altering how your body reacts to pain, it reduces pain whilst also reducing inflammation and swelling.

I am taking other medication, can I take Nuromol?

As with all medication, you should check with your GP or pharmacist if it is safe for you to take Nuromol while taking another medicine. Always speak to your GP or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following:
  • Corticosteroid tablets
  • Antibiotics
  • Anti-sickness medicines
  • Anti-coagulants or blood thinners
  • Medication for high cholesterol
  • Heart stimulants
  • Diuretics
  • Medication to reduce high blood pressure.

When should I NOT take Nuromol?

Do not take Nuromol in your final 3 months of pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding or up to 6 months pregnant always check with your GP or pharmacist before taking Nuromol. Do not take Nuromol if you are allergic to paracetamol or ibuprofen. Do not take Nuromol if you have had a stomach ulcer or bleeding in your bowel.

Are there any side effects with Nuromol?

All medication can have side effects, however not everybody will experience them. Side effects can include:
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Signs of intestinal bleeding. eg severe stomach pain, vomiting blood or a substance that looks like coffee grounds, blood in your faeces, black faeces.
  • Signs of inflammation of the brain lining, e.g. stiff neck, headache, feeling or being sick, fever, feeling disorientated.
  • Signs of severe allergic reaction, e.g. swelling of the face, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, worsening of asthma.
  • Severe skin reactions
  • High blood pressure
  • Water retention
  • Liver problems, e.g. yellowing skin and whites of the eyes
  • Kidney problems e.g. increased or decreased urination, swelling of the legs
  • Heart failure
Common side effects include:
  • Stomach pain or discomfort, feeling or being sick, diarrhoea
  • Higher levels of liver enzymes
  • Excessive sweating
