What is a Private Prescription?
A private prescription is not written on an official NHS prescription form and so not paid for by the NHS. It is typically written on the doctor surgeries letter headed paper. The cost of a private prescription is met wholly by the patient. Any registered doctor can provide a private prescription.
What is a Repeatable Prescription?
The same private prescription can be repeated for subsequent treatments. For this to happen, the doctor has to endorse the prescription with the number of repeats he or she wishes to allow. If your prescription is repeatable, the doctor will write the number of repeats clearly on the prescription.

Malarone Tablets (POM) Product Description
Malarone belongs to a group of medicines called antimalarials. It contains two active ingredients, atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride. Malarone has two uses one to prevent malaria and the other is to treat malaria. Malaria is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, which passes the malaria parasite (plasmodium falciparum) into the bloodstream. Malarone prevents malaria by killing this parasite. For people who already infected with malaria, Malarone also kills these parasites.
