Product overview

Catacrom is a preservative-free antihistamine/mast-cell stabiliser eye drop used to relieve and help prevent symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis such as itching, redness, and watering.

Active ingredient: Sodium cromoglicate 2% w/v (20 mg/ml).

Use for: Itchy, red, watery eyes triggered by pollen, pet dander, dust, or other allergens.

How it works

Sodium cromoglicate helps prevent the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators from sensitised mast cells in the eye’s conjunctiva. With regular use, it reduces allergic reactions and associated discomfort.

Dosage & directions for use Read carefully

Follow the on-pack instructions or advice from a healthcare professional.

Typical regimen: Instill 1 drop into each affected eye up to 4 times daily at regular intervals.
Wash or sanitise hands before use. Twist off the tip of a single-use vial.
Tilt head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and apply one drop. Avoid touching the eye or any surface with the vial tip.
Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner (by the nose) for 1–2 minutes; blink normally.
If both eyes are affected, repeat for the other eye.
Single use only: Discard the vial immediately after opening, even if some solution remains.

If symptoms are mainly seasonal (e.g., hay fever), begin treatment before allergen exposure where possible and continue regularly during the exposure period. Do not exceed the stated frequency without medical advice.

Warnings & important information

For ocular use only. Do not inject or swallow.
Allergy alert: Do not use if you are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any of the ingredients.
Contact lenses: Remove soft or hard lenses before instillation and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Do not use with lenses in the eye.
Blurry vision: Temporary blurred vision may occur after instillation. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear.
Contamination: To keep drops sterile, avoid touching the vial tip to any surface, including the eye or fingers. Discard each vial after one use.
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or other eye conditions: Consult a healthcare professional before use.
Stop and seek medical advice immediately if you experience severe pain, marked redness or swelling, changes in vision, a rash, or if symptoms worsen.
If symptoms persist or have not improved after several days of regular use, speak to a pharmacist, optometrist, or doctor.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep vials in the original pouch until needed. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
