Avoca Wart & Verruca 40% Caustic Pencil Treatment
Product Description
Avoca Wart & Verruca 40% Caustic Pencil Treatment is a targeted topical treatment designed to help remove common warts and verrucas on the hands and feet. Each caustic pencil contains silver nitrate (40% w/w) with potassium nitrate, providing a precise cauterising action that destroys unwanted tissue on the surface of the wart or verruca. The pencil format allows controlled application directly to the affected area, helping to minimise contact with healthy surrounding skin. As the treated tissue is destroyed, it darkens and can be gently filed away, revealing healthy skin beneath over time.Key Features & Benefits
- Contains 40% w/w silver nitrate for effective cauterisation of warts and verrucas.
- Precision pencil format for targeted application.
- Suitable for common warts and verrucas on hands and feet.
- Helps reduce discomfort and speed up removal of stubborn lesions when used as directed.
How It Works
Silver nitrate acts as a caustic agent. When activated with a small amount of clean water, it releases silver ions that chemically cauterise the superficial layers of the wart or verruca. This controlled destruction of tissue helps eliminate virus-infected skin cells so that healthy skin can regrow.Important Advice
This product description does not replace the full patient information leaflet supplied with the medicine. Always read the leaflet carefully before use and follow the directions provided by your pharmacist or healthcare professional.Dosage & Directions for Use

- Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area.

- Protect the surrounding healthy skin with a thin layer of petroleum jelly to minimise irritation and staining.
- Gently touch the moistened tip to the wart or verruca surface only. Do not rub and do not apply excessive pressure.
Ensure only the lesion is treated. - Allow the treated area to dry completely before it touches other skin, clothing, or surfaces.
- After 24 hours, the darkened (blackened) surface may be gently filed with an emery board if advised.
