Syndol Headache Relief 30 Tablets

Syndol Headache Relief Tablets are specially formulated for the short-term treatment of acute moderate pain that has not been relieved by standard painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone. Each tablet contains a combination of Paracetamol (pain relief and fever reduction), Codeine Phosphate (an opioid analgesic for stronger pain relief) and Caffeine (which enhances the effect of paracetamol and helps reduce drowsiness).

Uses

Suitable for the short-term relief of:
  • Tension and migraine headaches
  • Headache unrelieved by other painkillers
  • Rheumatic and muscular pain
  • Period pain
  • Toothache and dental pain
  • Neuralgia and other acute moderate pain

Dosage

Always read the leaflet and follow the instructions on the packaging. Do not exceed the stated dose.

Adults and children 16 years and over

  • Take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as required.
  • Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
  • Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Children aged 12–15 years

  • Take 1 tablet every 6 hours as required.
  • Maximum 4 tablets in 24 hours.

Do not:

  • Use for more than 3 days. If pain persists, see your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Take with any other products containing paracetamol or codeine.
  • Give to children under 12 years.

Warnings

This medicine contains codeine, which can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days.

  • For short-term use only for acute moderate pain when other painkillers have not worked.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, caffeine or any of the ingredients.
  • Do not take with other paracetamol-containing medicines or other opioid-containing products.
  • Do not use if you:
    • Are breastfeeding.
    • Have severe breathing problems, severe liver disease, or are a known ultra-rapid metaboliser of codeine.
    • Have recently had a head injury or have raised pressure in the skull.
    • Have conditions where opioids are contraindicated (such as paralytic ileus or severe respiratory depression).
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have liver, kidney, thyroid, prostate, bowel or breathing problems, low blood pressure, or if you are elderly, taking other medicines, or have a history of alcohol or drug dependence.
  • May cause drowsiness or dizziness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery. It is an offence to drive if this medicine impairs your ability to do so safely.
  • Prolonged or excessive use can lead to medicine overuse headache and dependence. If you feel you need to use this medicine for longer or in higher doses, seek medical advice promptly.
  • If you take too many tablets, seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY, even if you feel well, due to the risk of serious liver damage from paracetamol overdose.
