Cetraben Cream 500g is a rich emollient designed to soothe and protect dry, itchy or eczema-prone skin. It forms a protective barrier to help lock in moisture and prevent further irritation from environmental triggers.

Dosage & directions

How much: Apply a generous layer to the affected areas.

How often: Use as often as needed to keep the skin comfortable—commonly 2–4 times daily and after washing or bathing.

How to apply: Smooth in the direction of hair growth. Do not rub vigorously.

  • For bathing: you may use your usual gentle cleanser; re-apply the cream immediately after pat-drying.
  • For hand care: re-apply after handwashing and before outdoor exposure.
  • If using with topical treatments (e.g., steroids), follow your clinician’s advice on the order and timing of application.

Contains emollients such as light liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin, plus moisturisers (e.g., glycerine) and standard cream base components.

Warnings & precautions

  • External use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.
  • Flammability risk: Emollients containing paraffin can increase the risk of fire. Fabrics (clothing, bedding, dressings) that come into contact with the cream may be more easily ignited. Keep away from naked flames, lit cigarettes and other heat sources. Change and wash fabrics regularly.
  • Skin sensitivity: Stop use and seek advice if irritation, redness or a rash occurs.
  • Broken or infected skin: Consult a healthcare professional before use on broken, infected or oozing skin.
  • Slipping hazard: Take care in the bath/shower; residues can make surfaces slippery.
  • Allergens: Some components (e.g., cetostearyl alcohol) may cause local skin reactions in sensitive individuals.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Generally considered safe; if unsure, ask a pharmacist or doctor.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Possible side effects

Usually well tolerated. Rarely, mild irritation or stinging may occur, especially on very dry or cracked skin. Discontinue and seek medical advice if troublesome reactions develop.

Storage

  • Store below 25 °C and keep the cap/pump closed when not in use.
  • Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
