What it does
Gaviscon Double Action gets to work in two ways to relieve heartburn and indigestion:- Neutralises excess stomach acid to ease discomfort.
- Forms a protective raft on top of stomach contents to help stop acid rising into the oesophagus.

How it works
On contact with gastric acid, the formulation produces a low-density alginate raft that floats on top of stomach contents. This physical barrier helps keep acid in the stomach where it belongs, while the antacid components reduce acidity to relieve burning pain and discomfort.Frequently asked

Dosage & Directions
- Adults and children 12 years and over: Chew 2–4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times daily.
- Maximum: Do not exceed 16 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children under 12 years: Only on medical advice.
- How to take: Chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing. Drink a glass of water if desired.
- Taking with other medicines: Leave a gap of at least 2 hours before or after other oral medicines (the antacid/alginate can affect absorption).

Warnings & Advice
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are on a salt-restricted diet, have kidney or heart disease, or are taking regular medicines (including antibiotics, iron, thyroid medicines, or fluoroquinolones).
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Generally considered usable; however, seek medical advice if symptoms persist or you need regular treatment.
- Side effects: Rarely, allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulty) can occur—stop use and seek immediate medical help. Mild effects like bloating, constipation, or diarrhoea may occur.
- Seek medical advice if you have severe or persistent stomach pain, unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, black stools, or if symptoms last more than 7 days.
- Do not exceed the stated dose. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Storage: Store below 30 °C in a dry place. Close the pack tightly.
