Take this medication rectally, as required, when used as an enema for constipation. (When used to treat cystitis or to reduce the acidity of the stomach contents before an operation it should be taken by mouth, with water, as required.) Remember to use it at the same time each day – unless specifically told otherwise by your doctor. It may take 5 to 15 minutes before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.
