Dosage

Always follow the directions on the packaging and the patient information leaflet, or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Adults and children over 10 years

• Prevention of travel sickness (long journeys): Usually 1 tablet at bedtime starting the night before travel. Your doctor or pharmacist may advise continuing 1 tablet at bedtime during the journey if needed.
• Prevention of travel sickness (short journeys): Usually 1 tablet 1–2 hours before travel.
• Treatment of travel sickness (if symptoms occur): 1 tablet as soon as symptoms appear. A further tablet may be advised later the same day according to the leaflet instructions, without exceeding the maximum daily dose.
• Maximum daily dose: Do not take more than 4 tablets (100mg) in any 24-hour period.

Children

• Avomine 25mg Tablets are generally not recommended in young children. Age limits and dosing vary by country and product; follow the specific advice on the pack and leaflet.
• Only give to children on the advice of a doctor or pharmacist, using the exact dose they recommend.

Elderly

Use with caution. A lower dose may be required due to increased susceptibility to side effects such as drowsiness, confusion, and low blood pressure.

How to Take

• Swallow tablets whole with water.
• Can usually be taken with or without food.
• Use for the shortest duration necessary.

Uses

Avomine 25mg Tablets are typically used for:

• Prevention of travel sickness on long or short journeys
• Treatment of travel sickness once symptoms have started
• Relief of nausea and vomiting due to other causes, only on medical advice

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use Avomine 25mg Tablets if:

• You are allergic to promethazine or any of the ingredients.
• You have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last 14 days (unless advised by your doctor).
• The leaflet or your healthcare professional has advised it is unsuitable for your age group.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
• Have glaucoma, epilepsy, severe liver disease or kidney problems.
• Have difficulty passing urine or prostate problems.
• Have breathing problems (e.g. asthma, chronic bronchitis, COPD, sleep apnoea).
• Are elderly or very frail.
• Are taking other medicines that cause drowsiness (e.g. sleeping tablets, strong painkillers, some anxiety or allergy medicines).

Drowsiness & driving: Avomine may cause marked drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or reduced alertness. Do not drive, cycle, or operate machinery if affected.

Alcohol: Avoid alcohol while taking Avomine, as it can increase drowsiness and other side effects.

Children & young people: Use only on professional advice. Seek urgent medical help if a child shows unusual excitement, agitation, breathing difficulties, or extreme drowsiness.

Overdose: If too many tablets are taken (especially in a child), seek immediate medical attention or contact emergency services.

Allergic reactions: Stop taking Avomine and seek medical help immediately if you develop swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, or a severe skin rash.

Storage

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store below the temperature stated on the packaging.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
