What it is

Adcal-D3 Dissolve is a lemon-flavoured effervescent calcium and vitamin D₃ supplement used to help maintain healthy bones and teeth and to support treatment of conditions related to low calcium and/or vitamin D (as directed by a clinician).

Each tablet provides approx. 1,500 mg calcium and 400 IU (10 µg) vitamin D₃.
Dissolves in water for an easy-to-take drink.
Suitable for adults and older adults when recommended.

Who it’s for

Adults and the elderly who have been advised to supplement calcium and vitamin D—e.g., during osteoporosis prevention/treatment or when dietary intake/sunlight exposure is low.

How to use (Dosage)

Typical adult dose: 2 tablets daily, split as 1 tablet in the morning and 1 in the evening, or as directed by your doctor/pharmacist.
How to take: Dissolve each tablet completely in a large glass of water. Wait for effervescence to finish; stir and drink.
With food? Can be taken with or without food. If stomach discomfort occurs, take with a meal.
Missed dose: Take it when remembered unless it’s close to the next dose. Do not double the dose.

Warnings & precautions

Do not use if you have hypercalcaemia (high blood calcium), severe hypercalciuria (high urine calcium), kidney stones, vitamin D toxicity, or are allergic to any ingredient.
Talk to your doctor/pharmacist before use if you have kidney problems (including stones), sarcoidosis, are on a low-sodium or low-phosphate diet, or have ever had hyperparathyroidism.
Drug interactions: Separate doses by the times below to avoid reducing absorption or causing interactions:
- Levothyroxine, bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics: take these medicines at least 2–4 hours apart from Adcal-D3.
- Iron, zinc, or magnesium supplements: take at least 2 hours apart.
- Thiazide diuretics and cardiac glycosides (e.g., digoxin): use only with medical advice; monitor calcium due to risk of hypercalcaemia/arrhythmia.
- Orlistat: may reduce vitamin D absorption—seek advice.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Usually compatible at recommended doses, but seek advice to confirm the right dose for you.
Dietary cautions: Some effervescent tablets contain sodium, sweeteners (e.g., aspartame—source of phenylalanine), or allergen derivatives (e.g., soya). Check the leaflet if you have restrictions, phenylketonuria, or allergies.
Do not exceed the stated dose. Excess vitamin D and calcium can cause nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, excessive thirst/urination, or confusion—seek medical advice if these occur.
