What Is Thrush?
Thrush is a common yeast infection caused by Candida. Symptoms can include itching, soreness, and a thick white discharge. Fluconazole works by stopping the growth of the yeast.
Dosage & How to Use
Patients aged between 16-60 years: Take one capsule (150 mg) as a single dose, swallowed whole with water. You can take it with or without food.
- If symptoms do not improve, seek medical advice.
- For recurrent thrush (≥4 episodes in 12 months), speak to your doctor or pharmacist for assessment and tailored treatment.
Children and adolescents under 16: not recommended without medical advice.
Active & Inactive Ingredients
Active ingredient: Fluconazole 150 mg per capsule.
Capsule excipients may include standard fillers, colorants, and capsule shell components. Check the leaflet for the exact list if you have allergies or intolerances.
Warnings & Important Information
- Do not use if you are allergic to fluconazole or other azole antifungals (e.g., clotrimazole, ketoconazole).
- Talk to your doctor/pharmacist before use if you:
- Have liver or kidney problems, heart rhythm issues, or electrolyte disturbances.
- Are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding (seek medical advice first).
- Have abnormal or foul-smelling discharge, blood-stained discharge, fever, pelvic pain, ulcers, or sores.
- Have diabetes, weakened immunity, or symptoms that keep coming back.
- Drug interactions: Fluconazole can interact with medicines including warfarin (and other anticoagulants), certain diabetes medicines, phenytoin, carbamazepine, some antidepressants, macrolide antibiotics, statins, benzodiazepines, methadone, and others. Check with a pharmacist or doctor if you take any regular medicines.
- Side effects: Commonly nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, headache, or rash. Stop use and seek urgent help if you develop signs of allergic reaction (wheezing, swelling, severe rash), yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, severe skin reactions, or persistent vomiting.
- Alcohol: Moderate alcohol is not known to interact, but consider avoiding if you feel unwell.
- Driving & machinery: If you feel dizzy or tired, do not drive or operate machinery.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Storage
- Store below 25 °C in a dry place.
- Keep capsules in the original blister until use.
- Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
