Antifungal cream for common fungal skin infections

Canesten Cream (clotrimazole 1% w/w) is an easy-to-apply antifungal cream used to treat athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis), fungal sweat rash (intertrigo) and skin yeast infections caused by Candida.

Dosage & Directions for Use

Clean & dry the affected skin thoroughly.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area and surrounding skin.
Adults & children (≥2 years): apply 2–3 times daily (morning and night; a third time may be used if advised).
Duration:
- Athlete’s foot & ringworm: typically 2–4 weeks.
- Jock itch & sweat rash: typically 2–3 weeks.
Continue for about 2 weeks after symptoms clear to help prevent recurrence.
Wash hands after application. Do not cover with airtight dressings unless told by a healthcare professional.

Tip: For athlete’s foot, change socks daily, keep feet dry, and treat shoes/surfaces to reduce reinfection.

Active & Other Ingredients

Active: Clotrimazole 1% w/w.
Also contains: common cream bases. Some variants may include benzyl alcohol (preservative) and cetostearyl alcohol (may cause local skin reactions). Check the carton/leaflet for the exact list.
