What’s in the pack

1 x Oral Capsule (fluconazole 150 mg) — treats the cause of thrush internally.
1 x External Cream 2% w/w (clotrimazole) — soothes and treats external symptoms such as itching and soreness.

Who is it for?

Adults aged 16 to 60 years who have been previously diagnosed with thrush and recognise the symptoms. If you are under 16, over 60, pregnant, breast-feeding, have recurrent thrush (≥2 episodes in 6 months), or have underlying medical conditions, seek medical advice before use.

How it works

Fluconazole capsule

Fluconazole is an antifungal medicine that stops Candida from growing, helping clear the infection at its source.

Clotrimazole cream

Clotrimazole treats and relieves external symptoms around the vulva (or the end of the penis in men) such as soreness and itching.

Dosage & directions

Oral capsule (fluconazole 150 mg)

Take a single capsule by mouth, swallow whole with water. You can take it with or without food.

External cream (clotrimazole 2%)

Apply a thin layer to the affected external area 2 to 3 times daily and rub in gently.
Continue until symptoms have fully cleared. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, seek medical advice.
For male partners with external thrush (balanitis): apply thinly 2 to 3 times daily for up to 2 weeks, or as advised by a healthcare professional.

Wash hands before and after applying the cream. External use only.

If symptoms persist

If symptoms have not improved within 7 days after using the capsule and cream as directed, or if symptoms recur within 2 months, consult your GP or sexual health clinic.

Warnings & important information

Allergies: Do not use if you are allergic to fluconazole, clotrimazole, or any of the ingredients.
Interactions (capsule): Speak to a pharmacist/doctor if you take other medicines, especially blood thinners (e.g., warfarin) or medicines that affect the liver.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Seek medical advice before use. Do not take the oral capsule if pregnant unless a doctor has told you to.
Contraception warning (cream): Clotrimazole may damage latex condoms and diaphragms. Use alternative protection or avoid intercourse during treatment and for at least 5 days after using the cream.
When to get urgent help: stop use and seek medical help if you develop rash, facial swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
See a clinician if you have foul-smelling discharge, fever, pelvic pain, blood-stained discharge, sores/ulcers, or if symptoms keep coming back.
Driving & alcohol: The capsule may rarely cause dizziness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery.
