What is Hay Fever?

Hay Fever is the name given to Allergic Rhinitis that is caused by pollen. Allergic Rhinitis is the inflammation of the inside of the nose caused by an allergen, such as pollen. It  is a very common condition in the UK, with 1 in 5 people suffering from it. It is most common from late march to September when the pollen count is at its highest.

It affects people to different degrees with some people having mild symptoms while others having severe symptoms has a result of Hay Fever. Symptoms often include, sneezing and coughing, runny and blocked nose, itchy, red or watery eyes, but there are others. It is different to a cold as it usually lasts longer, with colds lasting 1-2 weeks and hay fever lasting months.
