Piriton Chlorphenamine 4 mg tablets provide effective relief from allergy symptoms including hay fever, pet allergies, dust mite allergies, and skin reactions such as hives (urticaria). Each tablet contains chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg, a first-generation antihistamine that helps reduce sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes, and skin itch.

Dosage & How to Take

Always use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. Do not exceed the stated dose.

Adults and children 12+ years: Take 1 tablet every 4–6 hours if needed. Maximum 6 tablets in 24 hours.
Children 6–12 years: Take ½ tablet every 4–6 hours if needed. Maximum 6 half-tablets (3 tablets) in 24 hours.
Elderly: May be more susceptible to side effects. A lower dose may be advised—seek pharmacist/doctor guidance.
Under 6 years: Tablets not recommended. Ask a healthcare professional about a suitable liquid formulation.

Swallow with water. Can be taken with or without food.

Active Ingredient

Chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg per tablet.

Excipients include lactose (see Warnings if you have an intolerance).

Warnings & Precautions

May cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcohol.
Do not use if you are allergic to chlorphenamine or any tablet ingredients.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have: glaucoma, severe liver disease, urinary retention or prostate problems, epilepsy, bronchitis/asthma, or if you are elderly or very sensitive to antihistamines.
Interactions: Do not take with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping an MAOI. Use caution with other medicines that cause drowsiness (e.g., sleeping tablets, strong painkillers, anxiety medicines) or other antihistamines.
Pregnancy/breast-feeding: Consult a healthcare professional before use.
Contains lactose. If you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
Do not exceed the stated dose. If you take too many tablets, seek medical advice immediately.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Piriton can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very common/common: drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision.
Others: upset stomach, constipation, headache, difficulty urinating (especially in men with prostate issues), or allergic reactions (rash, swelling). Stop use and seek medical help if you get swelling of the face/lips/throat or difficulty breathing.
