Directions & Dosage

Important: Always read the label and package leaflet before use. The guidance below is general and does not replace advice from your veterinarian.

  1. Clean: Gently cleanse and dry the area before application.
  2. Apply: Using clean hands or a sterile swab, apply a thin, even film of Equi-Salve to the targeted skin.
  3. Frequency: Typically once or twice daily, or as directed by your veterinarian. Re-apply after heavy sweating or washing.
  4. Duration: Continue for several days after the skin appears normal, unless your vet advises otherwise.

Foals or breeding mares: consult your veterinarian for tailored advice before use.

Warnings & Precautions

  • For external use on horses only. Not for human use.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nostrils, mouth, and mucous membranes.
  • Do not apply to deep or puncture wounds, serious burns, or large areas of broken skin unless directed by a veterinarian.
  • Discontinue use and seek veterinary advice if irritation, redness, or swelling worsens or persists.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals. If swallowed, contact a veterinarian or doctor immediately.
  • Store tightly closed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not use if the tamper-evident seal is broken.

Ingredients

VetPlus Equi-Salve FR’s ingredients include EChloroxylenol for its antibacterial properties, Citronella oil for its fly-repellent qualities and soothing effects on sweet itch and mud fever, White petroleum jelly as a base and to provide moisture, and Propylene glycol. It also contains D&C Red dye 17 and is designed to soothe skin conditions and protect against flies.
