What it does

Provides soothing relief from persistent dry (non-productive) coughs due to colds or bronchitis, helping to calm the cough reflex while cooling and coating the throat.

Rapid impact on tickly, irritating coughs.
Menthol helps ease throat and chest irritation.
Suitable for adults, the elderly and children 12 years and over.

Key information

Contains approximately 0.18% v/v alcohol and about 3.07 g sucrose per 5 ml.

How to use

Shake the bottle vigorously before use. Take by mouth. Use the measuring spoon/cup if provided.

Dosage

Adults, the elderly and children 12+ years: Take 10 ml (two 5 ml spoonfuls) every 4 hours if required.
Children under 12 years: Do not give, unless advised by a doctor.

Do not exceed the stated dose. If symptoms persist, worsen, or you develop a high temperature, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

Active ingredients (per 5 ml): Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 7.5 mg; Levomenthol (menthol) 2.5 mg.

Also contains: Ethanol (~0.18% v/v), glycerol (E422), capsicum tincture (capsicum oleoresin), peppermint oil, anise oil, citric acid (E330), macrogol cetostearyl ether, caramel (E150), cineole, sodium benzoate (E211), sucrose, purified water.

Warnings & precautions

Do not use if:

You are allergic to any of the ingredients.
You are taking or have taken an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) for depression in the last 14 days.
You have liver problems, shortness of breath, are in the middle of an asthma attack, or you have a persistent/productive cough (producing phlegm).
The user is under 12 years old.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

Have a history of asthma.
Have ever been or are dependent on opioids, alcohol or drugs, or have had withdrawal symptoms previously.

Drug interactions: Speak to a pharmacist or doctor if you take cimetidine (for ulcers) or certain antidepressants/antipsychotics; combining can lead to serious reactions (e.g., agitation, fever, unstable blood pressure, coordination problems, GI symptoms).

Driving & machinery: May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive until you know how it affects you; it is an offence to drive if impaired.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use.

Dependence warning: High doses or prolonged use of dextromethorphan can lead to dependence and withdrawal. Use for the shortest time necessary and only as directed.

Contains sucrose and a small amount of alcohol (ethanol). If you have diabetes or are avoiding alcohol, seek advice before use.
Contains sodium benzoate (E211).
