Imodium Dual Action Relief 12 Tablets 2mg

Imodium Dual Action Relief provides effective relief from short-term diarrhoea when it is accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms such as stomach cramps, bloating and trapped wind.

Each tablet contains two active ingredients. Loperamide hydrochloride helps reduce diarrhoea by slowing an overactive bowel, while simeticone helps disperse trapped gas to relieve bloating, cramping and flatulence.

This pack contains 12 easy-to-swallow tablets and is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 years and over.

Important Information

This medicine treats the symptoms of diarrhoea but does not replace fluid and electrolyte loss. Use only as directed and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist, worsen or return frequently.

Dosage

Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water.

Adults aged over 18 years: Take two tablets initially, followed by one tablet after each loose bowel movement.

Young people aged 12 to 18 years: Take one tablet initially, followed by one tablet after each loose bowel movement.

Maximum dose: Do not take more than four tablets within any 24-hour period.

Do not use for longer than 48 hours. Stop taking the tablets when your symptoms improve. Speak to a doctor if your symptoms have not improved within 48 hours.

Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Warnings

Always read the enclosed patient information leaflet before use. Do not exceed the stated dose or recommended treatment duration.

Do not take this medicine:

If you are allergic to loperamide hydrochloride, simeticone or any of the other ingredients.
If you are under 12 years of age.
If you have blood in your stools and a high temperature.
If you are experiencing a flare-up of ulcerative colitis.
If you have severe diarrhoea following treatment with antibiotics.
If you have bacterial inflammation of the bowel caused by organisms such as Salmonella, Shigella or Campylobacter.
If you are constipated or your stomach appears swollen.

Stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice if constipation, severe abdominal swelling or worsening symptoms develop.

Diarrhoea may cause a loss of fluids and salts. Drink plenty of fluids and consider using an oral rehydration treatment where appropriate.

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have liver or kidney problems, AIDS, a history of medicine misuse, or if you take other medicines.

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are breastfeeding. This medicine is not generally recommended during breastfeeding.

This product contains benzyl alcohol, maltodextrin containing glucose and a very small amount of ethanol. People with glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Tiredness, dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.

Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. In the event of an overdose, seek urgent medical help immediately.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Each tablet contains loperamide hydrochloride 2mg and simeticone equivalent to 125mg dimeticone.

Other ingredients: Calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, acesulfame potassium, artificial vanilla flavour containing propylene glycol, maltodextrin, ethanol and benzyl alcohol, sodium starch glycolate Type A and stearic acid.
