Dosage

Adults and children aged 16 years and over: Take 30ml by mouth using the measuring cup provided.

Repeat every 30 to 60 minutes if needed.

Maximum dose: Do not take more than 8 doses in 24 hours.

Important: Do not use for more than 2 days. Shake the bottle well before use. For oral use only.

Warnings

Do not use this product if you:

• Are under 16 years old
• Are allergic to bismuth subsalicylate, aspirin, salicylates, or any of the ingredients
• Are taking other salicylates, including aspirin
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have a stomach ulcer
• Have blood clotting disorders
• Have bloody or black stools

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you:

• Have fever or mucus in your stools
• Have gout
• Are taking anticoagulants, medicines for diabetes, methotrexate, or tetracycline antibiotics
• Are frail or elderly and have diarrhoea, as dehydration may need to be prevented or treated

Stop use and seek medical advice if:

• Your symptoms worsen or last longer than 2 days
• You develop diarrhoea with fever
• You experience ringing in the ears
• You notice unusual side effects
• You accidentally take too much

Possible harmless side effects can include temporary darkening of the tongue or stools.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: Bismuth subsalicylate 17.5mg/ml (equivalent to 525mg per 30ml dose).

Other ingredients: Aluminium magnesium silicate, methylcellulose, gellan gum, methyl salicylate, sucralose, salicylic acid, sorbic acid, benzoic acid (E210), sodium salicylate, amaranth (E123), and purified water.

Additional information: This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per 30ml dose, so it is essentially sodium-free. It also contains amaranth (E123), which may cause allergic reactions, and benzoic acid.
