Directions & Dosage
Always follow the advice on the pack or from your healthcare professional.
- Leave-on emollient: Apply a thin layer to affected areas as often as needed, usually 2–4 times daily. Smooth gently in the direction of hair growth—do not rub vigorously.
- Soap substitute: Scoop a small amount onto wet hands, massage over skin in place of soap, then rinse and pat dry. Re-apply as a leave-on emollient after washing.
- Bath additive: Melt/soften a pea- to thumbnail-sized amount in warm water and swirl to disperse; take care—surfaces become slippery.
- Children & infants: Apply sparingly at first. Increase frequency as advised by a pharmacist, GP, or nurse.
Helpful Tips
- Apply little and often, especially after bathing and hand-washing.
- Continue daily emollients even when skin looks clear to help prevent flare-ups.
- Apply steroid creams (if prescribed) first, allow to absorb, then apply emollient after ~30 minutes unless told otherwise by your clinician.
Warnings & Precautions
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.
- Flammability risk: Paraffin-based emollients can soak into clothing, dressings, bedding, and other fabrics and become a fire hazard. Keep away from naked flames, cigarettes, and other ignition sources. Change clothing/bedding regularly and wash at high temperatures.
- Skin reactions: If irritation, redness, or worsening of your condition occurs, stop use and seek medical advice.
- Broken or infected skin: Use only on advice of a healthcare professional.
- Slippery surfaces: Take care in the bathroom; clean residue from bath/shower and floor to prevent slips.
