Acetic acid 2% w/v ear spray · Antibacterial relief for minor ear infections (otitis externa)
EarCalm® is an over-the-counter acidic ear spray used to relieve and treat symptoms of otitis externa (commonly known as swimmer’s ear) such as itch, discomfort and mild discharge. The acetic acid helps restore the ear canal’s natural acidity, creating an environment that is unfavourable for bacteria and fungi.
Who is it for?
- Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over with symptoms of otitis externa.
- For use in the ear canal only. Do not use in the eyes, nose, mouth, or on broken skin.

Dosage & directions for use Important
- Prime the spray before first use by pressing several times until a fine mist appears.
- Tilt head so the affected ear faces upward.
- Adults and children ≥12 years: Apply one spray into the affected ear at least three times daily (morning, midday, evening). You may use it up to every 2–3 hours if needed.
- Keep head tilted for a few seconds to allow the solution to reach the ear canal.
- Continue treatment for 2 days after symptoms improve. Do not use for more than 7 days without medical advice.
Note: Use in one or both ears as directed above if both ears are affected.
Active & other ingredients
- Active: Acetic acid 2% w/v.
- Other ingredients: Purified water and excipients.
Warnings & precautions
- Do not use if you are allergic to acetic acid or any ingredient in this product.
- Do not use if you have a perforated (burst) eardrum, severe ear pain, fever, or after ear surgery unless a clinician tells you to.
- Under 12 years: Not recommended. Seek medical advice.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
- Stop use and seek advice if irritation, worsening pain, rash, or persistent discharge occurs.
- Do not insert cotton buds or other objects deep into the ear canal while using this product.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
How to store
- Store below 25 °C and keep the bottle tightly closed.
- Do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
