Dosage and Directions for Use

For adults, elderly people and children over 12 years:

Step 1 – Using the ear drops:

1. Turn the cap anticlockwise to break the seal, then remove the cap.
2. Tilt your head and gently squeeze up to five drops into the affected ear.
3. Keep your head tilted sideways for a few minutes to allow the drops to remain in the ear.
4. Wipe away any excess liquid with a tissue.
5. Repeat in the other ear when necessary.

Repeat once or twice daily, normally for three to four days, until hearing improves and discomfort is reduced. Wash your hands after use and replace the cap securely. Do not plug the ear with loose cotton wool.

Step 2 – Using the bulb syringe:

Any wax or drops remaining after three to four days of treatment may be gently rinsed away with the bulb syringe.

1. Wash the syringe inside and outside with soapy water before and after every use.
2. Fill a basin with warm, not hot, water.
3. Squeeze the bulb and allow it to refill while the nozzle is beneath the surface of the water.
4. Tilt your head over the basin and place the nozzle gently at the opening of the ear canal. Do not insert it deeply.
5. Gently squeeze the bulb, allowing the water to flow into the ear and drain into the basin.
6. Remove the syringe while it is still squeezed to prevent unwanted suction.
7. Tilt your head to drain excess water and wipe the ear with a tissue.

Do not continue rinsing if it causes discomfort. Do not use the syringe to administer the ear drops.

Warnings

• For use in the ears only.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• Do not use if your eardrum is, or may have been, damaged.
• Do not use if you have ear pain, swelling, discharge, infection, dizziness or tinnitus.
• Do not use if you have a history of ear problems unless advised and supervised by a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
• Do not use while wearing a hearing aid or while using other ear drops or medicines in the ear.
• Do not use if you have recently attempted to remove wax with fingernails, cotton buds or other implements.
• Do not use if your ear has been syringed within the previous two to three days.
• Do not use the bulb syringe for children under 12 unless recommended by a doctor.
• Consult a doctor before using the ear drops in children under five years of age.
• Do not push the syringe nozzle deeply into the ear or use excessive pressure, as this may damage the eardrum and impair hearing.
• Do not allow the syringe nozzle to block water draining from the ear.
• A mild bubbling sensation may occur as the drops release oxygen and break down the wax.
• Stop using the product and seek medical advice if symptoms persist, become worse or serious side effects occur.
• If an unpleasant taste occurs, stop using the drops immediately, do not use the syringe and consult a doctor.
• Avoid contact with the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with water for 10 to 15 minutes.
• Do not drive or operate machinery if treatment causes or worsens dizziness.
• Do not use after the expiry date. Discard the drops four weeks after first opening.
• Store below 25°C in a cool place away from sunlight, with the bottle upright in its original carton.

Ingredients

Otex Express Ear Drops contain urea hydrogen peroxide 5%, 8-hydroxyquinoline and glycerol.
