Actifed Multi-Action Tablets provide symptomatic relief from the congestion and other symptoms associated with colds, flu and allergies. The dual-action formula contains a decongestant and an antihistamine to help relieve symptoms such as a blocked or stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes and blocked sinuses.
Each tablet contains pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60mg, which acts as a nasal decongestant, and triprolidine hydrochloride 2.5mg, an antihistamine that helps relieve symptoms associated with histamine release.
What Are Actifed Multi-Action Tablets Used For?
Actifed Multi-Action Tablets are used for the symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract conditions where both a nasal decongestant and antihistamine may be beneficial, including:
- Common colds and influenza
- Allergic rhinitis
- Vasomotor rhinitis
- Nasal congestion and blocked sinuses
- Runny nose and sneezing
- Watery eyes associated with allergies
Important Information
This is a medicine. Always read the label and patient information leaflet before use and follow the recommended dosage. If your symptoms persist, worsen, or you are unsure whether this medicine is suitable for you, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
Dosage
Adults and children over 12 years: Take one tablet every 4 to 6 hours, up to 4 times a day.
Do not take more than 4 tablets in any 24-hour period.
For oral use only. Swallow the tablet with water.
Children under 12 years: This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Do not exceed the stated dose. Always read the patient information leaflet supplied with the medicine before use.
Warnings
Do not take Actifed Multi-Action Tablets if:
- You are allergic to pseudoephedrine, triprolidine or any of the other ingredients.
- You have severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- You have cardiovascular disease.
- You have diabetes mellitus.
- You have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
- You have phaeochromocytoma.
- You have closed-angle glaucoma.
- You have severe acute or chronic kidney disease or kidney failure.
- You are taking another sympathomimetic decongestant or a beta-blocker.
- You are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or have taken them within the last 14 days.
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have liver or kidney problems, prostate problems, difficulty passing urine, thyroid disease, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or other medical conditions.
This medicine may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. Avoid alcoholic drinks while taking Actifed Multi-Action Tablets, as alcohol may increase drowsiness.
Consult a healthcare professional before taking this medicine with sedatives, tranquillisers, antidepressants or other medicines that may cause drowsiness.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice if you experience hallucinations, severe restlessness, sleep disturbances or a serious skin reaction.
Seek immediate medical attention if you develop a sudden severe or thunderclap headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, seizures or visual disturbances while taking a pseudoephedrine-containing medicine.
Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
Ingredients
Active ingredients per tablet:
- Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 60mg
- Triprolidine Hydrochloride 2.5mg
Other ingredients: Lactose, maize starch, povidone and magnesium stearate.
This medicine contains lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, speak to your doctor before taking this medicine.
